PROCESS

Step 1: Kindergarteners worked in wax resist with crayons and tempera on paper. Each child was provided several pieces of different sized paper over 2 class meetings. The theme was “spring and nature” but they were allowed to draw and paint anything they wanted.

Step 2: I picked up the dried paintings on paper a few days later and went to work gridding selected pieces onto a wooden canvas board.

My intent for the auction piece was to use the children’s artwork and leave their individual works unchanged. By organizing them together on a single surface, a new artwork appears! Better together.

Step 3: After arranging all of the pieces I adhered them to the board with clear acrylic gel and used a gold paper to add clean grid lines.

ALL DONE!
