About

Helen Ziga – Mixed Media / Relief & Wall Sculpture Artist

Raised by a Hungarian mother and Slovak-American father, Helen Ziga discovered her love for art, literature, nature, and science early on. This vibrant blend of cultural and intellectual curiosity shaped her creative path through local art programs in high school and into formal studies—culminating in a BA from Albright College and an MFA from Ohio University.

For more than two decades, Helen has built a successful studio practice and an enduring career as both artist and arts professional. Her work—spanning painting, drawing , relief, wood, paper, and paint—has been exhibited and collected throughout the U.S. Notable venues include Dalton Gallery, Alpharetta Arts Center, Distillery of Modern Art’s Watson Gallery, Muse & Co Fine Art, the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, ARC Gallery (Chicago), Dairy Barn (Athens, OH), and Abington Art Center (greater Philadelphia). She is also a former member of Philadelphia’s cooperative Zone One Gallery.

Helen’s art has found homes with private and institutional collectors alike. She has sold work through Zone One Gallery, the Torpedo Factory, ARC Chicago, Art in the Park Marietta, the Hambidge Auction, the Quinlan Auction, and the GLA Auction, among others. Her pieces are included in the collections of Helen Ballard of Ballard Designs and the Albright College Women’s Center.

A seasoned arts educator and advocate, Helen taught art and graphic design for years and served as Gallery Chair at the Art Institute of Atlanta Gallery. Her design career includes textile and graphic work abroad—in Hangzhou, China and Taichung, Taiwan—as well as creative project management for a multinational healthcare technology company.

In addition to her studio practice, Helen has worked behind the scenes to strengthen Georgia’s creative landscape. She was part of the team at the Hambidge Center, one of the Southeast’s most respected artist residencies, and collaborated with the Urban Art Collective in Chamblee to elevate public art in the community. These experiences deepened her commitment to sustaining creative ecosystems and supporting fellow artists.

Since early 2022, Helen has devoted herself fully to her art. She holds a studio at Atlanta Street Art Collective in Roswell, GA, and is represented by Muse & Co Fine Art in Marietta, GA. Her artistic reach has taken her to England, the Georgia coast, and culminated in her first residency at South Porch Artists Residency in June 2024.

Helen lives in Marietta, just north of Atlanta, with her husband Chris, their son Lewis, and their very spoiled cat, Daisy. Working from her Roswell studio, she is steadily helping to shape the area’s growing creative community through regular exhibitions and engagement with the region’s evolving arts scene.
